- Watermelon: I like using a seedless mini watermelon. Half of one makes about two servings. You can easily scale it up using the recipe card. Extra melon? Make a sparkling watermelon drink!
- Tomatoes: Cherry or grape heirlooms are my favorite, but any ripe tomato will work beautifully.
- Olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar: Its sweet depth enhances the flavor of the fruit without overpowering it. No substitutes for this one.
- Fresh basil: Skip the dried stuff here. Tear the leaves right before serving for the best flavor and color.

How to make watermelon tomato salad
- Cube the watermelon and add it to a large bowl.
- Slice or chop the tomatoes depending on their size and add them to the bowl.

Ingredients
- 2 cups watermelon, cubed
- 1 cup tomatoes, (halved or quartered if using cherry or grape tomatoes, roughly chopped if using larger tomatoes)
- 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- ¼ cup basil leaves*, roughly torn or chopped
- salt, to taste
Instructions
