When Jessi of The House of Healthy asked me to review her new book, I was really excited because, as many of you know, I love smoothies!
What I really like about The Smoothie Life is that it’s a lifestyle book, not just a recipe book.
Jessi teaches us why smoothies are so healthy, and how to make them with different blenders. She also helps with choosing the best ingredients, including which one are the most important to buy organic. She also discusses how to prepare your ingredients in advance, and how to freeze your own fruit.
If you’ve ever wanted to make your own nut milks, this book will show you how. Plus there are recipes for green smoothies, fresh fruit smoothies, vegetable smoothies, smoothie bowls, and so much more.
Jessi also gives healthy living advice such as stress relief, breathing exercises, basic yoga, plus a cleanse guide.
Jessi was kind enough to allow me to share one of the recipes from The Smoothie Life with you. I chose the Berry Simple Smoothie Bowl. Since I’m allergic to almonds, I used unsweetened soy milk in place of the almond milk. I love this smoothie bowl. It’s delicious, plus the purple color is gorgeous.
Berry Simple Smoothie Bowl
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup frozen blackberries
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup almond milk
- Blend the frozen fruit and almond milk, then pour into a bowl.
- Add the toppings and enjoy!
