What is a superfood?
A superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being. According to Health.com, “superfoods are nutrient powerhouses that pack large doses of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals. Eating them may reduce the risk of chronic disease, and prolong life, and people who eat more of them are healthier and thinner than those who don’t.”
Sounds great to me! But where do we find these magical ingredients?
Philosophie makes it easy!
Sophie from Philosophie recently sent me some of their plant-based protein powders to try, and they are loaded with superfoods. I love their motto: “Make every food a SUPERFOOD”. They take the guesswork out of buying ingredients for your smoothies.
As Sophie explains, “Each of the Philosophie Superfood + Protein Blends is vegan, raw, gluten-free, and has absolutely no filler ingredients. The detoxifying Green Dream blend, beautifying Berry Bliss blend, and energizing Cacao Magic blend contain nothing but the purest, most healing ingredients that have been deemed “superfoods” due to their exceptional nutrient density. Because these blends can be added to absolutely any food, it is easy to enrich every meal with the amazing health benefits of the world’s most potent superfoods. When the body receives optimal nourishment from these wholesome, plant-based sources of protein, vitamins, and minerals, it more readily releases unneeded material and toxins, leaving you feeling renewed and vibrantly healthy.”
Green Dream contains spirulina, maca, mesquite, hemp powder, chia seeds, and vanilla (all organic). Spirulina is an antioxidant-rich, blue-green algae that is packed with nutrients including iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, chromium, vitamin B-12, and protein. You’ll feel a boost of energy without any caffeine.
Cacao Magic contains cacao powder, cacao nibs, reishi, mesquite, maca, chia seeds, hemp protein, and vanilla (all organic). This superfood and protein blend packs 10 times the antioxidants of green tea, more magnesium than 3 cups of broccoli, and more calcium than a glass of cow’s milk! And it tastes like chocolate!
Berry Bliss contains acai, goji berries, sprouted brown rice protein, pomegranate, camu camu, mangosteen, and maca (all organic). It’s high in antioxidants, protein, vitamin A, and contains camu camu, one of the world’s most abundant forms of vitamin C.
You can use any of the flavors in smoothies, yogurt, salad dressings, sauces, and baked goods. It’s so easy to add superfoods to your diet with Philosophie! I love their products so much I became an affiliate. Give them a try and I know you’ll become a fan, too!
You can add Green Dream to this Pineapple Green Smoothie, Cacao Magic to this Green Chia Pudding, and Berry Bliss to this Watermelon Hibiscus Cooler. Or try them in these Philosophie Superfood Smoothies.
